Freshly Squeezed Apple Juice at Home

Crafting your own freshly squeezed apple juice is a breeze, requiring just three simple ingredients. With our enthusiastic 2-year-old daughter eagerly embracing every sip, we find ourselves constantly replenishing our apple stash for juicing. In fact, our commitment to this delicious beverage led us to invest in a reliable juicer.

The allure of homemade apple juice lies in its purity. Unlike its store-bought counterparts laden with preservatives and obscure additives, our homemade version remains a testament to simplicity. By hand-selecting each ingredient, you retain full control over the contents of your beverage, ensuring a wholesome treat for your family’s enjoyment. Plus, when it comes to preservation, freezing is a hassle-free solution that maintains its freshness for whenever thirst strikes.

Speaking of juicers, our trusty Braun model has been a game-changer in our kitchen. While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, its durability and performance are worth every penny. Designed for ease of use and cleaning, it’s a staple appliance that promises longevity in your culinary endeavors. Though there are other reputable brands on the market, we stand by the adage: invest wisely, buy once. After all, quality craftsmanship ensures a juicing companion that stands the test of time.

Why Make Fresh Apple Juice?

This recipe is refreshingly simple, requiring just a handful of ingredients and a few straightforward steps. While it’s tailored for crafting apple juice, its versatility extends to virtually any fruit of your choosing.

The natural sweetness of freshly pressed apple juice rivals that of its store-bought counterparts. Unlike commercial varieties that undergo flavor and sugar manipulation for consistency, our homemade rendition boasts an unadulterated taste, free from additives and artificial enhancements. Plus, the cost-effectiveness of crafting your own juice adds an extra layer of satisfaction to each sip.

When it comes to selecting apples, the choice is yours. Opt for red varieties for a sweeter profile or green ones for a tangier twist. Feel free to experiment with different combinations, embracing the unique flavors each variety brings to the blend. While cosmetic perfection isn’t necessary, prioritize firmness to ensure optimal juicing results.

For efficient juicing, consider quartering the apples before feeding them into the juicer. This not only simplifies the juicing process but also prolongs the lifespan of your equipment. Keep an eye on the pulp buildup, pausing periodically to clean out any excess residue and maintain peak performance.

Equipment

  • 1 Juicer
  • Fine Mesh Filter of Cheesecloth

Ingredients

  • 2 kg Apples
  • 1 l Filtered Water
  • 1 Stick Cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  • Juice all of the apples. All juicers are different so follow the instructions for your particular model.
  • Filter the juice through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. This is not necessary but I like it because it makes a cleaner-looking product. If you don’t mind the floaty bits of pulp, then skip this step.
  • Put the juice into a pot with the cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. This is another step that is not necessary but it will help kill any bacteria and make your juice last longer.
